Maurizio Massari

Born in Naples, Ambassador Maurizio Massari began his diplomatic career in 1985.
He was responsible of the Press Office and Sovietic internal politics during the years of “perestroika” in Moscow from 1986 to 1990 , then he worked in London in the Economic-Commercial and European Policies Section.

Political Advisor in Washington during the second term of the Clinton administration (1998-2001), he worked during 1996 and 1997 in the negotiations on the revision for the Maastricht Treaty.

Ambassador to the OSCE in Serbia and Montenegro from 2003 to 2006.
Head of Analysis and Planning in 2007, in 2009 he was appointed Head of the Press and Information and Spokesman of the Minister. From 25 January 2012 to February 2013 he was Special Envoy for the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Degree in Political Science from the "Orientale" University in Naples. Fellow at the Institute for International Affairs of the University' of Harvard, and in International Public Policies at the John Hopkins University in Washington, Ambassador Massari teached International Relations at the “la Sapienza University” in Rome from 2006 till 2007. He wrote two books, respectively USSR (The Great Turning ', Guide, 1990) and Russia's post-Cold War (' Russia: European Democracy or global power ', Guerini, 2009) and contributed to the the Arab revolutions (the revolutions of dignity', 'Ediesse 2012) in addition to being the author of numerous articles and essays on major international political issues have appeared in Italian and foreign periodicals.
